kobe beef ramen yazawa

this was on my wanted to try list because of paolo from tokyo. i wasn't sure that we could be on time for lunch or whether the restaurant would accept us or not because we didn't make any reservation, so i was hoping we could try the ramen instead. but we managed to try kobe beef in mouriya lin, so we were a bit full. but after taking a short walk, husband decided that he wasn't full so he wanted to try the ramen. fortunately, it was within walking distance from our position. and the place was not close yet. you must check each dining place opening hour, because sometimes, they will only open for lunch and dinner and close in between.

so, the place was definitely not as big as mouriya. this one was typical ramen place. small shop with counter table and round seats on one side, and several tables with couple seats on the other side. we managed to get a table with seats, not the counter style one. i have said that this was a small shop, so if you came in big group, they probably couldn't accommodate all of you, and perhaps you should eat separately, not all at once. they did have english menu, but they didn't have lots of stuff so it was easy to choose from. they only offered two types of ramen, the spicy and not spicy one, kobe beef sushi (you could choose one piece or several pieces), and some beef rice bowl. we picked the ramen set and one kobe beef sushi for me.

the price of the sushi is a bit pricey though, 500 yen a piece
the ramen came in a set. it had ramen bowl (it only had half boiled egg and ramen with shio or salt soup), small portion of rice bowl with a piece of kobe beef on top, 3 condiments which were miso paste, kobe beef slices and kobe beef jerky (or i assumed it was jerky). i forgot to take picture of the kobe beef sushi, but let me tell you.. it was delicious! though it was almost raw, the meat melted in my mouth. very juicy and tender and the sushi rice was not overpowering the meat. you should eat it with wasabi, but again, since i didn't like wasabi, i just ate it by itself.

the ramen set
on top, there were the 3 condiments. then a small bowl of rice and the ramen bowl itself
the waiter told us how to enjoy our ramen bowl. she said to sip one spoonful of ramen soup along with some ramen noodle, then add the miso paste to the soup and taste another sip. the miso paste would change the taste of the soup. then you should proceed like usually you would eat the ramen. the beef slices were a bit raw, so you should immerse them in the soup to make it slightly more cooked.

so we did as directed. we took one sip of the soup and then eat a bit noodle, then added a bit of miso paste. the miso paste made the soup a bit sweet and it worked well with the beef slices. i just hope there would be more beef slices as it was not enough. it was tender just like the beef slice on top of the rice. then the beef jerky was the sweet and dried version of the beef slices. together they made a good combination. if i had to pick, i wish i just eat the ramen and not spend fortune on a kobe beef course earlier. the price? i think it was a reasonable price range for a set of ramen. they did offer free ocha drink, but somehow, the ocha had hint of coffee so we didn't drink it. you could also ask for water though. it was free. definitely recommend this one and if we could eat here again, we would.
